Robert Hartley McTavish
Robert Hartley McTavish, known to many as Bob, passed away on June 19, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on February 22, 1939, in Kincardine, Ontario, Bob was married to the love of his life, Doris Ann Klein, for 60 wonderful years, having exchanged vows on September 11, 1965. He was predeceased by his father, Walter (1991), and his mother, Amelia (1985), as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Chris (2000) and Muriel Hopf (2020). Bob is survived by his wife, Doris, and their two sons, Richard (Monse Villanueva) of Toronto and Rob (Doris Peter) of Dundas, along with their grandsons, Fernando and Ethan. He is also survived by his brother and sisters-in-law, Elaine and Claude Field, and Doreen and Hugh Schmidt, and several nieces and nephews. Throughout his life, Bob had a fulfilling career, starting as a paper delivery boy for the Toronto Star, then working at Malcolm's furniture factory, and eventually joining Johnson's IGA Food Store in 1956. He progressed through various roles, including Clerk, Meat Manager, and Store Manager for IGA stores in Southwestern Ontario, before joining Loeb Inc. in 1969 as an area Meat Supervisor. Bob was later promoted to Regional Director of Retail Operations for Southwestern Ontario, a position he held for 24 years. After retiring in 1996 at the age of 57, Bob cherished his time with the Woodstock-Oxford Men's Probus Club.
