Merle Burns

Merle Burns, a resident of Windsor, Ontario, died on August 11, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on November 27, 1941. Predeceased by her husband James, grandson Brendan, parents Edmund Godkin and Olive Godkin (Medd), step‑mother Ida Godkin (McClinchey), siblings Mervin Godkin (June), Lavern Godkin, Olene Dennis (Murray), Audrey Beuermann (Lloyd) and Lois Sinclair (Glen), and sisters‑in‑law Joanne Arnold (Alec) and Mary Loretta Burns, she is survived by sons Brad (married to Dawn) and Greg (married to Adèle), grandson Aidan (Misi), and siblings‑in‑law Marion Godkin (late Lavern), Pat Burns (late Bernice) and Ronnie (Sharon), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Banwell Chapel, 11677 Tecumseh Road East, Windsor, ON N8N 1L8, followed by a memorial service at the same location at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
