Maria (nee Ferrante) Di Giacomo

Maria Di Giacomo (nee Ferrante) passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 104. She was the dear wife of the late Guido Di Giacomo and daughter of the late Filippo and Concetta Ferrante. Maria was a loving mother of Steve (Joan Janisse) and the late Giovina Facchinato 'Nella' (the late Dario). She was predeceased by siblings Antonio, Giuseppe, and Biagio. Maria is survived by her grandchildren Dino (Bianca), Nensi, Christina (Riley), Tanya (Dalmas), and Matthew, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her cousins, nieces, nephews, and Marina Facchinato. Maria was a hard worker, seamstress, and loving mother, who retired from Hotel Dieu Hospital as a housekeeper after 25 years. She and her daughter Nella were survivors of the sinking of the Andrea-Doria in 1956. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her daughter-in-law Joan for taking loving care of Maria for the last several years. Visitation will take place at the Janisse Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 3:45 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Church on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 10 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
