John Thivierge passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 26, 2026, at the age of 76. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Cyr) for 55 years. John was a loving father of Tammy Thivierge and Casey Thivierge (Jennifer), and a cherished Grandpa to Jordan Bonneau (Krysti), Joshua Bonneau (Nicole), Lexi Thivierge, Chloe Thivierge, and Pépé to Thea and Athena Bonneau. He was a dear brother to Juliette Lariviere (late Paul), Candide Inkel (Francois), Benoit Thivierge (Jean), late Roger Thivierge, Rina Hétu (Michel), late Aurele Thivierge (Jane), and Roch Thivierge (Sandra). John was also a dear brother-in-law to Ron Cyr (Terri). He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. John retired from Ford Motor Co. in 2002 after 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed bowling and coaching baseball and slo-pitch throughout most of his life. John was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2775 and a former member of the Optimist Club of Belle River. During retirement, John was an avid woodworker and drove a school bus for G & L Stevenson Transport, where he was commonly known as 'Cowboy John.' A private family service was held at Melady Funeral Home, followed by interment at St. William's Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor & Essex County would be appreciated.
