Roycroft Harcourt Roberts, known to family and friends as "The Crofter," died peacefully on July 24, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on July 17, 1939, in Georgetown, Guyana. A gifted Hammond organist, he served as organist at one of Georgetown's largest churches and was also an accomplished jazz musician, often compared to Jimmy Smith. His love of music extended to performances in both sacred and jazz settings. An avid sportsman, Roy was a badminton champion and coach, enjoyed tennis, and excelled at pool. Professionally, he built a career with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications, rising to manager in the Data Centre and later mentoring his son into the same ministry; he also held part‑time positions at Sears, an electronics retailer, and the LCBO. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mentor, remembered for his practical skill as the family’s "Mr. Fix‑It."
