GEORGE LESLIE PEARCE
Major George Leslie Pearce, CD (Ret'd), passed away on February 2, 2026. Born in Deseronto, Ontario, to Victor and Peggy, he is survived by his sister, Pam (Brown); children, Derek (Darlene), Kim, Deborah, and Wendy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George's civilian career included serving as a teacher and Principal within the Scarborough Board of Education. He had a distinguished military career, serving as an officer of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, and represented his Canadian regiment at Buckingham Palace. He also spearheaded the Canadian Military Musical Contingent's assembly at Wembley Stadium and planned and directed the Royal Salute to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at CNE stadium in 1984. George received 3 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Commemorative Medals and contributed to national television broadcasts of Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Ottawa for 22 years. A date and location for honouring George will be announced as soon as possible.
