Cynthia Gertrude Tappay
Cynthia Gertrude Tappay passed away on May 3, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on May 15, 1936, in Kingston, Ontario, to the late Dr. Herbert C. Burleigh and his wife, Dorothy (née Howard). Beloved mother of Katherine (Kim) Kavluk, and Melissa Tappay. Treasured grandmother of Kimberly (Shiv), Jeff (Sarah), Karina, Liam, and Luke. Predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) Tappay; her sister, Diane (Peter) MacKinnon; and her brothers, John Burleigh, and Peter (Evelyn) Burleigh. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Joan Burleigh of Kingston, and her brother-in-law, Garry Tappay and his wife, Agnes of Niagara Falls. She is also fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Cynthia spent many happy and fulfilling years working as a librarian, first in Markham, at the original site on Main Street, then later as chief librarian at the Thornhill Village Library. She retired in 1989 after the death of her husband Bob. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will follow in the near future.
