Melvin "Mel" Keith Pragnell

Melvin 'Mel' Keith Pragnell passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 76, at the Welland Hospital, surrounded by his wife, children, and son-in-law. Born in England to Kenneth and Betty Pragnell, Mel spent most of his life in Welland, Ontario. He worked at GDX, forming lasting friendships and earning an early retirement. In 2005, Mel married his wife Tamara, and they would have celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary on July 26, 2026. Mel is survived by his wife Tamara, children Steven and Julie, and their spouses Stefanie and Scott, as well as his grandchildren Dax, Meagan, Jenna, and Alyssa. He was predeceased by his grandson Preston. Mel is also survived by his brothers Stanley and Phil, and their families. A private celebration of Mel's life will be held with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a COPD charity in Mel's honour.
