Irene HINE

Irene Hine passed away on January 24, 2026, at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of John Hine and loving mother of Chris Hine, who predeceased her, and Fran Kleinsteuber. Irene was also a cherished grandmother of Tori and Allie Kleinsteuber. She was predeceased by her parents, Christopher and Mary Hewitson, and her brother, Richard Hewitson. Irene was dearly loved by her nephews and cousins in England. Born in Bletchley, England, Irene trained as a nurse and midwife before immigrating to Canada, where she and John made Welland their home for over 60 years. She was deeply involved in the community, serving in various roles at Holy Trinity Church, including two terms as President of the Welland YMCA and volunteering with the Scout Auxiliary. Irene was awarded the Order of Niagara for her contributions to the church. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 77 Division Street, Welland, on Saturday, February 7, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church Welland, The Alzheimer Society, or a charity of choice.
