Elizabeth Jean CULIG
Elizabeth Jean CULIG passed away on February 13, 2026, in her 95th year. She is lovingly remembered by sons, Larry and Carl; daughter, Mary Forma (Eugene); grandchildren, Sarah Wolczyk (Alex, great-granddaughter Evie and new sister come March), Shelby Ciufo (Daniel), Sydney Forma and Sawyer Forma. Predeceased by her husband, Charlie (2012); and son, Gerry (1992); parents, Melick and Mary Overholt; siblings, Kathleen Warren (Jack), Bud Overholt (Tillie), Ruth Beach (Jim), Donald Overholt, Jim Overholt (Marilyn); and brother-in-law, Cliff Koabel. Survived by sister Ann Koabel. Also predeceased by parents-in-law, Blaz and Kata Culig; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lillian Grasha (Mike), Tony Culig (Leah), Robert Culig and Gilles Tougas. Survived by in-laws, Zora Tougas, Olga Culig (widow of Robert) and George Culig (Sharon) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Wainfleet, Jean has been a resident of Welland since 1948. Before her marriage to Charlie in 1952, Jean worked as a legal assistant and resumed her work after raising her family for a combined career of nearly 40 years, until her retirement in 2005. She was a long-time member of the Parish Community of St. Kevin, 303 Niagara Street, Welland. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Jean's life will be held on February 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church, with visitation with the family commencing at 10:30 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass. A Rite of committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the St. Kevin's Parish Welland YouTube channel, beginning approximately five minutes before the service.
