Vivien "Ruth" (nee Dedels) SHANTZ
Peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Vernon Shantz (2001). Dear mother of Linda Bauman; cherished grandmother of Jason (Rae) Bauman and Dean (Marisa) Bauman; proud great-grandmother of Hunter and Quinn. Survived by her brothers-in-law Carson (Gail) Shantz and Peter (the late Wendy) Shantz, and sisters-in-law Betty (the late Glen) Shantz and Ruth (the late Leon) Shantz. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Douglas Shantz (1968), her parents Laura (nee Bechtel) and Norman Dedels, one brother, and five sisters. Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m. with the funeral service to immediately follow in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with Rev Randall Rehkopf officiating. A spring interment will be held at Breslau Mennonite Cemetery, Breslau.
