Reta Barbara Anne (Land) RICE

Reta Barbara Anne Rice passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at the age of 88, in Waterloo, after a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by her immediate family. She is survived by her husband Gordon, daughter Valerie and her husband Brian Smith, son Alan and his wife Anne, and four granddaughters, Emily, Natalie, Katie, and Nicole. Reta was predeceased by her siblings Hugh Land and his wife Peggy, and Marie Harris and her husband Gordon, as well as her brother-in-law Ron Rice. She will be remembered by her brother-in-laws and their spouses, Barry and Jenefer, Mike and Margaret, Peter and Jean, and her sister-in-law Lydia Rice, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Born in Rockwood, Ontario, Reta worked as a laboratory technician at K-W Hospital, where she met her husband Gordon. They were married in 1962 and were approaching their 64th wedding anniversary. Reta was devoted to her family and created many memories through their adventures together. She also generously shared her talents with her community, including serving as a Girl Guide leader.
