Nancy Elizabeth Ray

Nancy Elizabeth Ray passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 86, at Waterloo Heights Seniors Apartments. Born on March 4, 1939, in Moorefield, she was the daughter of Stanley Bowman and Francis (née Welsh). Nancy was the wife of Ted Ray, who predeceased her in 2012, and the mother of Susan Jordan, David Ray, and Michael Ray, who predeceased her in 2024. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alex Jordan and Taylor Jordan, as well as her siblings, Jane Laman, Lenore Kuenzie, Sally Coulbeck, Erle Bowman, and Merry Carol Bowman. Nancy attended the University of Toronto and Teachers' College in Stratford before beginning her career as a teacher with the Waterloo County Board of Education. She later worked as a teaching assistant and continued her education, earning her BA at the age of 42. Nancy was involved in various volunteer roles, including the Consumers' Association of Canada, the Garden Club of Kitchener Waterloo, and fibromyalgia support groups. She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, and her thoughtfulness, empathy, and gratitude will remain an inspiration to all who knew her.
