Mary Elizabeth Ann Weir passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 94. Ann was predeceased by her husband John Weir in 2007, her parents David Dooley and Constance Macleod, siblings David, John and Mary Dooley, and in-laws Joan and Ray McCloskey, Bob Weir, Marie and Marg Dooley. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children John (Jennifer), David (Sandy), Michael (Tina), and Gregory (Alina). Also mourned by her grandchildren Jack, Connor, Sandy, Luke, Max, Calin, and Dylan, to whom she was a beloved Nan. Also mourned by her brother Peter, in-laws Dorothy and Paul Bosley, and many nieces and nephews. Raised in Waterloo, Ontario, Ann graduated from the Nursing program at St. Joseph's in London, Ontario in 1953. She worked as a Public Health Nurse in Toronto and in hospitals in South Bend, Indiana. She left nursing when her first son was born to become a full-time mother. This allowed her to achieve what she called her greatest work: raising her four boys. Ann was made an Honorary Alumnus of Wilfrid Laurier University in 1987 in recognition of her many contributions to the institution while John was President there from 1982 - 1992. They spent many happy years and made great friends in Charlottetown and Rice Point, PEI. Ann was also a devoted owner to her many dogs over the years. Special thanks to the staff at Luther Village on the Park, Dr. Yew and the Paramed nurses for their compassionate care and kindness. Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Phil Reilly C.R. officiating. Reception and remarks to follow in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the John and Ann Weir MA Economics Scholarship, or to the diabetes charity may be made.
