Maria Ottilie LUECKE
Maria Ottilie Luecke passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 17, 1935, in Crinitz, Germany, to Frieda and Friedrich Böttcher, Maria spent her childhood in Bad Muskau, Germany, and later achieved a state diploma in agriculture in Weimar, Germany, where she met her lifelong companion and husband, Klaus Dieter Luecke. Maria and Klaus immigrated to Canada in 1963, settling into their self-constructed home in Ayr, Ontario in 1967. Maria wore many hats, including German teacher at Conestoga College and German Language School Concordia, while being a dedicated stay-at-home mom and nanny. She was a lifetime member of the Concordia Club in Kitchener, Ontario, which hosted the biggest annual Octoberfest outside of Munich. Maria is survived by her son Mathias and his wife Eve, daughter Barbara, son Andreas and his wife Kathleen, her grandchildren Nick, Katie, Marlie, David, and Amelia, as well as her great-grandchildren Indigo, Celestia, and Juniper. Maria is predeceased by her husband Klaus and her brothers Fritz and Kurt Böttcher. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Ontario, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society through www.erbgood.com.
