Mabel Wayne (née Rose)

Mabel Wayne (née Rose) passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 12, 1944, in Brigus, Newfoundland, Mabel demonstrated remarkable resilience and strength throughout her life. She moved to Ontario as a young woman and settled in Waterloo, where she met her husband, Richard Wayne, while working as a food server at the university. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2026. Mabel dedicated her life to serving others, working as a Personal Support Worker and later becoming a Registered Nurse. She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Melanie Gunkel (Peter) and David Wayne; and grandchildren, Amelia, Adreana, Evan, and Evelyn Wayne. Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home in Waterloo on August 4, 2026.
