Kornelis Ite "Kor" Hamming, a native of Hein‑Dodeward in the Netherlands, died peacefully at his home in Waterloo on August 13, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on February 18, 1939, the son of the late Pieter and Antje Hamming, and immigrated to Canada in 1951, becoming a citizen on September 18, 1957. He married Grace Wielink on April 21, 1961, and they shared sixty‑five years of marriage. After raising their family on farms near Binbrook and Blyth, the couple moved to Kitchener in the late 1980s, where Kor served as caretaker for his church and a Christian school and worked as a school bus driver. He is survived by his wife Grace; children Peter, Keith (married to Gwen), Richard (married to Lisa), Anitta (married to John), and Steve; grandchildren James (married to Cate), Laura, Jessica (married to Phil), Kurtis (married to Brandon), Mike (married to Claudia), Alisha (married to Tucker), Kyle (married to Alysha), the late David, Jenna (married to Kevin), Matt (married to Bella), Erick (married to Kara), Jordan (married to Pauline), and Nicolas; great‑grandchildren Reiker, the late Maverick, Hazel, Oaklyn, Owen, Ezekiel, Asher, Rylie, and Dylan; sisters Tina (married to Gerry), Anne (married to Cor), and Wilma (married to John). He was predeceased by his sister Marenie and her husband Warner. He is also remembered by Ray, Kristin, Jonathan, Stef, Alicia, and Kyle. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Community Christian Reformed Church, 1275 Bleams Road, Kitchener.
