Margaretta Junasa WEISS
Margaretta Junasa Weiss, of Waterdown, Ontario, passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 81, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Born on June 22, 1944, in Cabadbaran, Agusan Mindanao, Philippines, Margaretta was devoted to family above all. She was the matriarch of the family in Canada and kept the family connected across multiple provinces for holidays, celebrations, and the occasional murder mystery dinner. Margaretta was married to Larry, whom she met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and they were married in 1968. They immigrated to Ottawa, Canada, where Margaretta completed her residency and became a Canadian citizen in 1974. She started her career as a Pathologist at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, and later served as the Chief of Pathology and Director of Laboratories. Margaretta and Larry raised their family in North Burlington and Waterdown, and later lived and ran a hobby farm for 8 years. They moved to Chilliwack, BC, where Margaretta continued her career until they retired in 2007. In 2009, they moved back to Ontario and settled in Carlisle to be closer to their kids' families and grandchildren. Margaretta was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2018 and was cared for at home by Larry and later at Alexander Place, Waterdown, Ontario, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff, Larry, and her family.
