Mr. William Douglas Robinson (Doug)
William Douglas 'Doug' Robinson, known as Dad, Grampa, Great-Grampa, and Uncle, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on October 7, 1936, in Alliston, Ontario, Doug was an only child to Hilbert and Edith (Harvey) Robinson. He was raised and educated in Alliston, attending the Junction School House and then the Banting Memorial High School, where he met his wife Doreen 'Dode' MacKenzie, whom he married on June 30, 1953. Predeceased by his wife Doreen, Doug is survived by his son Richard and his wife Claudia of Washington, D.C., their two sons Matthew and his wife Clarisse and their son Noah of Denver, and Luke of Washington, D.C., and his daughter Anne of Wasaga Beach. Doug worked for CP Rail, rising to Senior Manager of Information Systems, and later retired in 1996. He continued in a private consulting role until 1999. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Men's Probus Club of Wasaga Beach and an avid curler, serving as President of the Stayner Granite Curling Club for many years and receiving the Doug Robinson Award in recognition of his dedication. Doug was also a past Master of the Alliston Seven Star Masonic Lodge and an active member and volunteer at the Centennial United Church in Stayner. Funeral arrangements will be held at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home in Wasaga Beach.
