SHELAGH ISABEL HEENEY
Shelagh Isabel Heeney passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Toronto on April 18, 1947, Shelagh and her family moved to Montreal when she was six years old. Montreal became the city of her heart and remained so for the rest of her life. Shelagh graduated from McGill and worked for the Royal Bank of Canada before pursuing a career in teaching. She acquired a Primary Specialist Certificate from Toronto Teachers College and taught primary grades for over 30 years. Shelagh loved teaching and enjoyed keeping in touch with her students and their families. In 2022, she moved to Vancouver to be closer to her brother, and they continued to enjoy daily phone calls and meals together. Shelagh is survived by her brother, Stephen Henry Heeney, and her friend, Jacqueline Furr Heller. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin Henry Atcheason Heeney and Lillian Beatrice Sterne. In lieu of a service, cremation has taken place, and interment will be in Holy Trinity Church Cemetery, Danford Lake, Quebec. Donations to Make-A-Wish Canada in Shelagh's memory would be appreciated.
