Dwayne Wood

Dwayne Wood passed away surrounded by family at Trenton Memorial Hospital on July 4, 2026, at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of Marcelle Closs and was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Wood. Dwayne was a loving father to Laura (Rick Fleming) and the late Debbie Wood, and a dear stepfather to Mike Closs and the late Cathy Closs-Vandenhoven. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Matthew Tinker, Nicholas Tinker (Ali), Tucker Fleming, Haille Fleming, and Kurtis Vandenhoven, and was a proud great-grandfather to Hannah, Caden, Charlotte, and Mallory. Dwayne is also survived by his siblings Kay Carney (late Jack), Paul Wood (late Marilyn), and Gloria Connors (Jody Evans), and was predeceased by his parents, Stanford and Mary Wood. A veteran of the Canadian Navy, he served for 31 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer First Class. Dwayne was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Royal Canadian Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or St. Peter's Catholic Church.
