WILLIAM "BILL" ROBERT MERTENS

WILLIAM 'BILL' ROBERT MERTENS passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the age of 101. He was the beloved husband of the late Jessie, loving father of John (Rose) Mertens and Kathleen (Roger) Gignac, proud grandfather of Kevin (Lesley), Laurie (David), Christina (Jon), Joe (Tally), and Melissa (Andrew), and great-grandfather of Emilyn, Caitlyn, Christopher, Allison, Ben, and Joey Rose. Bill was the dear brother of the late Kathleen and the late Margaret, adored brother-in-law of Moira Bell and the late Robert, and dearest and special friend of the late Barb. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Friends may call at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, located at 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. for visitation, with a service to follow in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
