VIVIENNE FRANCES STIFF
VIVIENNE FRANCES STIFF (nee SOLAN) passed away on April 9, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on January 13, 1942, to Tom and Josie Solan in Dublin, Ireland, Vivienne was the second of six children. Her family moved to Birmingham when she was 15, from which she departed for sojourns in Bournemouth and Sweden working at seaside resorts. In 1967, she sailed with her dear friend, Maureen, on the MS Aleksandr Pushkin to start a new life in Canada. In 1977, she married her husband, John, and they settled on Highcroft Road in Toronto's Upper Beaches, where they raised their two sons and established a successful law office. Vivienne was an active member of Corpus Christi Parish and volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society and various PTAs. She had a lifelong appreciation of the arts, gardening, chitchat, community engagement, and maintained many wonderful friendships and a strong bond with her family in Ireland. She died peacefully at home, on April 9, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with atypical meningioma, and is survived by her husband, John; her sons, Emmet (Elizabeth) and Cameron; her brothers and sister; and her neighbours and friends, near and far. Vivienne is at rest in heaven with her parents and her granddaughter, Louisa. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25th, at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and a celebration of life will be held in late May. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Toronto Environmental Alliance.
