STAN GASNER
Stan Gasner passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 86, with his son, Wayne, and daughter-in-law, Jing, by his side. Born in Toronto on November 29, 1939, Stan was the son of Meyer and Goldie Gasner. He married Diane, the love of his life, in 1963, after meeting her in 1958. Stan graduated from the University of Toronto as an Industrial Engineer in 1964. He is survived by his son, Wayne, and Wayne's wife, Jing. Stan was predeceased by his wife, Diane, in 2022, and by his son, Danny, in 1988. Stan spent much of his career at Giffels, where he advanced to the role of Project Manager. He and his family lived in North York on Sawley Dr, and later moved to downtown Toronto, settling at Market Square. Stan and his family undertook a 2-year volunteer assignment with CUSO in Colombia in 1975. Stan loved the outdoors, enjoying camping, canoeing, hiking, and sailing. He also enjoyed building and working with his hands, reflected in the family cottage near Killbear Park. Stan and Diane shared a love of travel, visiting more than 41 countries across 4 continents. Stan will be remembered for his thoughtful and spirited conversations, his generosity, and his willingness to help others. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private interment will take place at York Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside Diane and Danny. Memorial donations in Stan's memory may be made to the Stan Gasner Graduate Scholarship in Healthcare Engineering at the University of Toronto, the Bruce Trail Conservancy, or the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
