Rodney Allan SHANTZ
Rodney Allan Shantz passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, who was his best friend of nearly 70 years. Born on March 4, 1934, in Toronto, Rod was a dedicated family man with a gregarious and kind personality. He is survived by his children, Mark and Tracy, their spouses, Ann and Eric, and his grandchildren, Abby, Daniel, Robert, Matthew, and Emily, as well as his great-grandchild, Myles. Rod's youngest brother, Allan, also survives him. Rod had a long and successful career in the oil industry, starting with Cities Service, then BP, and eventually leading to a senior assignment at the London head office. He continued with Petro Canada, finishing his career in Calgary, where he and Marilyn embraced the outdoor western lifestyle, including alpine skiing. After retirement, Rod and Marilyn moved back to Toronto to be closer to family. Rod volunteered for many years on the board of Kinark Child and Family Services, renovated their Scarborough home, and taught his grandchildren how to maintain the perfect chemistry of a backyard pool. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
