ROBERT GORDON MEIKLEJOHN
Robert Gordon Meiklejohn passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on May 1, 1930, in Peterborough, Ontario, to Stuart and Mary Meiklejohn, he was predeceased by his siblings, Paul, Barbara Barrett, Douglas, Andrew, and Beth Bedard. He was married to Phyllis (nee Judson) for nearly 60 years, who predeceased him in December 2024. Robert was a renowned interior designer, founding Robert Meiklejohn Design Associates in the early 1960s. He was widely respected for his innovative designs in retail, commercial, and residential properties, which were often featured in architectural and interior design publications. His work with leading Canadian retailer Dylex revolutionized interior design and branding in the industry. Robert was involved with various design associations, including ARIDO, IDC, and ASID, and was instrumental in creating a world-class design conference in Toronto in the 1980s. He was a collector of unique furnishings and art, which he used in his professional work and to design homes in Toronto and Colebrook, Ontario.
