KARIN LARA VALDMANIS
Karin Lara Valdmanis, born March 21, 1986, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2026, at the age of 40. She was a loving and caring individual who will be deeply missed. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Karin lived in an apartment overlooking High Park with her brother, Mark, and his partner, Jenn. She studied History at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and completed a Masters in Library Sciences at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Karin volunteered at The Children's Book Bank in Toronto before becoming a librarian at the architectural firm IBI/Arcadis in 2012. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, and loved watching nature shows with her cat, Evie. Karin was a beloved aunt to Jacqueline and Duncan and accompanied them on annual outings to the Castle Playground in High Park. She is survived by her mother, Ilze Valdmanis; father, Martin Valdmanis; and brothers, Paul, Mark, and Michael. If desired, donations may be made to a foundation supporting literature, such as the Toronto Public Library or the Children's Book Bank, or to an animal shelter of choice in Karin's honour.
