JUNE McGUNIGAL

June McGunigal passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, in her 95th year, at Fountainview Care Community, with the love of her family in her heart. She was the devoted wife and best friend to the late Jim McGunigal. June was the beloved mother to Mitzi, Jyl, and Greg, and the proud grandmother to Shayla, Flynn, Brandi, Kelsey, and Brett. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Maggie and Joey. June is survived by her dear sister and best friend, Bonnie Henry, and her sister Gayle Alenius. She will be greatly missed by her extended family members, including her beloved aunt, and friends. June was born and grew up in Sault Ste Marie and later moved to Toronto, where she attended Shaw College at the age of 16. After marrying Jim McGunigal, she raised three loving children and later reinvented herself after his passing in 1988. June worked at McDougall and Brown Funeral Home for 22 years, where her compassion, friendly nature, and simple charm made her a perfect fit as a hostess. She was a part of the Birchcliff Bluffs United Church congregation for many years and regularly attended United Church conferences. June volunteered with the Cancer Society and was a kind, caring, and social woman who will be remembered for her sparkle in her eye and engaging smile.
