JOHN JANOS AMBRUS
John Janos Ambrus passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on March 1, 1933, in Budapest, Hungary, he was the devoted husband of Agnes and cherished father of Frugina. He was also a beloved grandfather to Julia and a dear brother of Mari. John was predeceased by his parents, Győző and Irén Ambrus, his identical twin brother, Sandor, and his siblings, Victor and Eva. As an architectural student, John fought in the 1956 revolution and later settled in Canada, where he completed his professional accreditation at the University of Toronto. He is remembered for his notable work, including The Colonnade, Royal St. George's College, and the restoration of the historic Don Jail. A private family interment will be held, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice in John's memory.
