JOHN GALINAITIS

John Galinaitis passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on January 12, 1947, in Germany, to the late Martynas and Marta Galinaitis, John spent most of his life in Toronto, Ontario. He attended Humberside Collegiate Institute and later studied Philosophy at Western University, followed by a law degree from York University's Osgoode Hall Law School, which led to a distinguished career as a Crown Prosecutor in Toronto. John was a lifelong learner, fluent in Lithuanian, and enjoyed sharing his knowledge as a tutor. He volunteered at the YMCA, teaching aquafit classes, and gave his time to Out of the Cold. John appreciated creative pursuits like sketching and painting, was an opera lover, and enjoyed travelling, including trips to Nunavut and Paris. He is remembered as a kind, wise, and generous friend. For the past three years, John resided at Grenadier Retirement Home, where he received support from his caregivers, Glenn and Alma.
