JOANNA CARLBERG
Joanna Carlberg, a strategic writer and mother, passed away on June 25, 2026, in Toronto, at the age of 75. Born on May 31, 1951, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Joanna was the daughter of parents who had been forced out of Poland to Siberia and later settled in Canada. She grew up in a home that valued community, books, and conversation, which instilled in her a love of bringing people together. Joanna's family moved to Winnipeg in 1965, where her father passed away in 1968. She thrived in Winnipeg, forming lifelong friendships and excelling in sports and academics at Isaac Newton School and the University of Manitoba. Joanna earned a Master's Degree in English from Carleton University, specializing in Canadian Literature. She began her career at York University, where she met her future husband and quickly rose to prominence for her advocacy and leadership. Joanna is survived by her loved ones, and funeral arrangements are being handled by Jerrett Funeral Home St Clair Ave W.
