JANINA SAWKA

Janina Sawka (nee Kosopud) passed away suddenly on June 19, 2026, at the age of 96 years in Toronto, Canada. She was predeceased by her parents, Mikal and Maria, and her husband, Mike (Mykola). Janina is survived by her daughter, Dr. Anna Sawka, and her husband, Steven Bosnick, and their grandchild, Christina Bosnick; her son, Dr. Andrew Sawka, and his wife, Dr. Judy Chen, and their grandchildren, Justine, Claudia, and Andie Sawka; as well as cousins in Canada and Ukraine. Janina was born in Jedrzejowska, Poland, and moved to Canada in 1965. She married Mike (Mykola) in 1967 in Winnipeg. She worked as a cook, a baker, and a seamstress. Janina and her husband moved to Toronto, Canada, in 2008, where they were members of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church. Janina will be laid to rest next to her husband at All Saints Cemetery in West St. Paul, Manitoba. Her funeral arrangements in Winnipeg are entrusted to Cropo Funeral Chapel.
