Following the end of the war at age 22, she immigrated to Canada by herself. She learned English and worked at the Lebanese embassy, which ultimately led her to meet her husband, Samual Habib. They married in 1959, and their daughters, Andrea, Janice, and Lesley (Jay), were born in 1961, 1962, and 1966, respectively. Irmgard was predeceased by her husband, Samual Habib (2017), and nephew, James (2005). She is fondly remembered by her nephews, Donny, Bobby, and Rob; and niece, Catherine.
