Gordon Norman PAYNE

Gordon Norman Payne passed away on February 11, 2026, in his 97th year. Born on January 1, 1929, in Toronto, he was the son of William James Payne and Irene Jesse Payne (nee Joyce). Gordon began his career as a police officer with the Toronto and Elmira Police Forces, serving for twenty years. He was married to Virginia Alice Payne (née Barr) for 58 years, until her passing in 2010. Gordon then married Jeanette (Jan) Hutton in 2012, and they were together for over 13 years. He is survived by his children, Barbara Mihm (deceased 2025), Ginny Ann Payne, Dianne Buick (Ron), Gord Payne (Martha), Linda Zieske (James), and Rick Payne. He also leaves behind special stepchildren, Sean Moon (Kim) and Paul Moon (Laureen), as well as 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, brother William, and daughter Barbara. He will be remembered for his stories and his enthusiasm for fixing broken items.
