ARVIDS PAEGLIS

Arvids Paeglis passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on March 6, 1929, in Daugavpils, Latvia, Arvids immigrated to Canada in April 1948 at the age of 19. He settled in Toronto, where he started a new life, married Mirdza, who predeceased him in 1974, and had a long career with Bell Canada. In 1978, he remarried Rasma, who predeceased him in 2022, and they enjoyed 43 years together. Arvids is survived by his daughters, Benita and Diana, and her husband Allan; his sister, Dagmara Jamieson; his cousin, John Purins, and his wife Karen; his nephews, Marc and Justin Jamieson, and their families; and John Alksnis, his wife Sharon, and their daughters, Laura and Inara, as well as relatives in Latvia. A service will be held at York Funeral Centre on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment. The family would appreciate donations in Arvids' memory to the Kristus Darzs Latvian Home, where he received caring support from the staff.
