Aila Penttila

Aila Penttila of Timmins, Ontario, passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 27, 1936, Aila was a beloved member of her community, surrounded by family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Elo and Sarah Jarvensivu; her daughter, Crystal Chapleau; her siblings, Eddie Jarvensivu (late Joan) and Violet Commando (late Benny); and her nephew, Allan Commando. Aila is survived by her husband, Pentti Penttila; her children, Wendy Lavigne, Raymond, Daniel, Luc, Cindy (Robert Vien), Victor, Victoria, Carl Penttila, April, Nancy, and Brayden; as well as her family, Dr. Julie Auger, Dr. Lesley Griffiths, Dr. Paul Miron, and Dr. Ming Li. Memorial donations in Aila's honour may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada, reflecting her lifelong love of children and her desire to bring kindness and hope to others.
