T.R. (Bob) McBride
Thomas Robert Gerald McBride, affectionately known as Bob, passed away on July 31, 2026, at the age of 94. Born to Maude and Cecil McBride, Bob was the eldest sibling to Jim and Pat. He grew up in Hamilton, where he developed a strong work ethic from a young age, holding various jobs while attending school. Bob's academic prowess led him to become the first in his family to attend university, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from McMaster. He later pursued a Bachelor of Physical Education and was involved in several extracurricular activities. Bob's passion for writing led him to become the sports editor for McMaster's Silhouette newspaper. After graduating, he worked as a probation officer before becoming a teacher, coaching football and teaching math and physical education at various high schools in Burlington. Bob's career in education eventually led him to become a Vice Principal and later a Principal at several schools, including Laura Secord, Merritton, Sir Winston Churchill, and Grantham High School. He will be remembered for his dedication to his students and his fair, approachable leadership style.
