Carol Mae (née Hollands) ROACH
Carol Mae Roach (née Hollands) passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the age of 95, just weeks after celebrating her 95th birthday. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Donald Roach (2010). Carol is the loving mother of Michael and Colleen, Kevin and Denise, Mark and Syl, Brian and Lynne, Karen and Tony Citrigno, and Maureen and Chris Dunn. She is the much loved grandmother of Steven (Christina), Tyler (Heather), Allison (Chris) Seddon, Cassandra (Jeremy Kemeny), Marlie, Kelsey, Michyla, and Great-Nana of Matthew, Caitlin, and Rory. Carol is the dear sister of Beverly Cook, Terry and Mara Hollands, and Mary Watson; and sister-in-law of Carole Jamieson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Hollands, Roach, and Laugher families. Carol was predeceased by her parents, George and Doris (née Laugher) Hollands; her sister, Patricia Fortura (2026); infant granddaughter, Holly; infant grandson, Jarrett; and brothers-in-law, Nicholas Fortura and Tom Cook. Carol worked at the CIBC bank in Thorold until she and Don married in 1951 and started their family. She later worked at Robinson's when it opened at the Pen Centre in 1975 and retired in 1994, when it transitioned to The Bay. In their retirement, Carol and Don travelled in Canada, the United States, England, Ireland, Portugal, Holland, Germany, and cruises. Carol belonged to several card clubs and enjoyed playing bridge and duplicate bridge. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the CWL for over 60 years. Her family was always her number one priority. She always made holidays and family gatherings very special. Visitation will take place at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Memorial donations to Community Care, Thorold, or Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
