RHODA MELINYSHYN

Rhoda Melinyshyn passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 88. She is survived by her children, Matthew, Leigh, Elizabeth, and Michael (Beata); by her grandchildren, Heather (Brett), Stephen (Ashley), Emily (Jordan), Hannah, and Alexander; and by her great-grandchildren, Wes, Mateo, and Joey. Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Walter, and her parents, Rev. Michael and Julia Fesenko. She leaves her loving sister, Eleanor (Nel) Carpen. Rhoda graduated from the University of Toronto with a First-Class Honours degree in Geology and tied with two other women for first place, winning the Colman Gold Medal. Visitation will be held at Thornhill Presbyterian Church on February 13, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will follow on February 14, 11 a.m., at Thornhill Presbyterian Church, after which a reception will be held, followed by burial at York Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dogwood Initiative at dogwoodbc.ca and the Council of Canadians at canadians.org.
