Joan Topping

Joan Topping, formerly Groves, passed away on July 16, 2026, at the age of 91, at Valleyview Home in St. Thomas. She was the mother of Robert Topping and his wife Liz, and grandmother of Robert and Scott. Joan was also a great-grandmother to Braydon, Bailey, Cameron, Nathan, Jacob, Jamieson, and Beckham. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Born on July 9, 1935, in St. Thomas, Joan was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret Groves. She retired from the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital, where she was actively involved in volunteer work. Joan was a member of the Baptist Church and participated in various bowling leagues. A memorial service will be held at Williams Funeral Home on July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be entombed in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Arthritis Society Canada. The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Valleyview Home for their care and compassion.
