Glen John SCHUMM

Glen John Schumm passed away peacefully at his residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg, on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 92. He was the beloved husband of Lydia (Wagler) Schumm, whom he married on August 21, 1957. Glen was the dear father of Janet and her husband, Ben Janz, of Abbottsford, B.C., Ross and his wife, Michelle, of Stratford, Mary Ann and her husband, Myron Ruby, of Wellesley, and Darryl and his wife, Jean, of Tatamagouche, N.S. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Rachel and Conrad, Brianna and Ryan, Julie, Jordon and Morgan, Emily and Ben, Ariena and Dylan, Neil, Lydia, Isaiah, and Briana, and his great-grandchildren, Kage, Peter, Eden, Sloane, Noah, Elizabeth, and Madelyn. Glen is survived by his brothers, Clare and his wife, Katie Ann, of Elkart, Indiana, Laird and his wife, Lois, and Jim and his wife, Carol, all of RR#1 Tavistock, and his sisters, Fern and her husband, Earl Bender, of New Hamburg, Joyce Zehr, of Tavistock, Ruth and her husband, Terry Kropf, of Boston, Mass, and his brother-in-law, Ralph Swartzentruber, of Stratford. Glen was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Edna (Schlegel) Schumm, his son, Brian, his brothers, Dale and his wife, Laura, and Ray, his sisters, Ruby and her husband, Lloyd Wagler, Sandra Swartzentruber, his brother-in-law, Daniel Zehr, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Stan and Ruby Wagler, Emmalien and Elmon Lichti, Alma and Ken Yantzi, Erma and Merlin Bender, and Daniel and Audrey Wagler. Relatives and friends will be received for memorial visitation at the Francis Chapel of the Glendinning Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock, on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Glen's life will be conducted at the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Nithview Home Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
