NICHOLAS MARTIN MITCHELL

Nicholas Martin Mitchell passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on October 16, 1944, in Surrey, England, he dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the sharing of wisdom. A great lover of sports, he was a player, captain, and hall of famer for the Barbarians Rugby Club, with over fifty years of involvement and support. He spent his entire career teaching drama and English at Leaside High School, where he facilitated numerous student-led productions. Nick also created the rugby program at Leaside and took his players on provincial and international tours. He is survived by his brother, Guy (Anne); his children, Sean and Lara; and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Piers. A service will be held at the Humphrey Funeral Home on February 8th at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration at the Granite Brewery from 3 - 5 p.m.
