Gilles Bonin

Gilles Bonin of Sudbury, Ontario, died on August 15, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on October 9, 1936. He is predeceased by his son Roch, his parents Hector and Hilda Bonin, his brother Jacques Bonin (Paulette Bonin), and his siblings‑in‑law Claudette Dumont and Jean‑Louis Portelance (Bernadette). He is survived by his wife Yvonne Bonin, his daughter Manon, his granddaughter Sydnée, and his siblings Lili Anne Woychuk (late Walter), Georgette Jutras (late Belarmin), Rejeane Michaud (late Gilbert), Lucille Litalien (late Marcel), Raymond, Marguerite Bonin, Dr. Richard, Lillianne Bonin and Madeleine Bonin. His siblings‑in‑law Maurice Portelance (late Suzanne), Madeleine Madore (Henri), Nicole Portelance (Manuel), Julie Prevost (Roland) and Leon Portelance Jr. also survive him, as do numerous nieces, nephews, great‑nieces and great‑nephews. Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint‑Jean‑De‑Brébeuf Church, 26 Kathleen Street, Greater Sudbury, ON P3C 2M1, followed by a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Maison McCulloch Hospice or the Alzheimer Society.
