David Gillen

David Ewart Gillen, aged 80, passed away peacefully at his home on July 5, 2026. He was the cherished son of Winston and Nelda (née Harkins) Gillen, both of whom predeceased him. David was a devoted father to Lilly Gillen and a loving brother to Clarke Gillen (Jenny) and Harriet Perkio (Jack predeceased), with siblings Ross (Pat predeceased) and Gordon (Dianne predeceased). He was a beloved uncle to Brian, Brenda, Carolyn, Kelly, Brent, and Jennifer. David dedicated many years to the Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery, retiring in 1999. Following his retirement, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was known for his craftsmanship, often found working in his garage or yard. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral visitation or service. Cremation has taken place, with interment at Civic Memorial Cemetery.
