Richard Ripley

Richard Ripley of Stratford passed away suddenly on August 24, 2026. Born in Chatham, Ontario, to Isabel and Roger Ripley, he dedicated over 40 years to teaching, profoundly impacting the lives of his students. Richard's adventurous spirit took him to Perth, Australia, for an exchange year, and he often encountered former students at the Stratford Festival and around town. He is survived by his soulmate Judy, daughters Rachael (Luca) and Miranda, sister Trish Thornton, late brother-in-law Peter Thornton, brother-in-law Philip Dodd, and several nieces, great-nieces, and cousins. Richard held a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Western Ontario and had diverse interests, including restoring classic cars and freelance journalism. A memorial service was held on August 31 at W. G. Young Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Support Our Troops.
