Michael RATAICH

Michael Rataich, in his 80th year, passed away on February 22, 2026. Born on August 31, 1946, in Draganić, Croatia. He immigrated to Canada in 1968. Through dedication and perseverance to his family, he built a life marked by hard work and integrity. He retired after 38 years of service at Dofasco. Michael was a devoted husband to Anne for 55 years. He was a loving and proud father to Sean (Lisa) and Stacy (Dave), and a cherished grandfather to Brandon, Mikael, Maya, and Max. His family was his greatest blessing and the centre of his life. He found peace in the quiet of nature through fishing and hunting, and took great pride in tending to his garden. He enjoyed watching soccer and valued the simple moments spent in the company of family and friends. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, Stoney Creek Chapel, 454 Highway #8, on Friday, February 27, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King St. E, Hamilton, on Saturday, February 28, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, 681 Mud St E., Stoney Creek. A luncheon will follow at the Holy Cross Parish Hall at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be made in his memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or Holy Cross Church.
