Janet Louise McDowell

Janet Louise McDowell, surrounded by her loving family, passed away on July 23, 2026, just days after her 70th birthday, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. She is predeceased by her parents, Louise and John, and her brother, David Eckebrecht. Janet is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob McDowell, her children Rob and Julia, and her grandchildren Riley, Danielle, and Quintin, who affectionately knew her as Nana. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Brockway. Janet will be deeply missed by her family, including her Golden Retrievers Cooper and Abby, and her Maine Coons Tinkerbell and Willow. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 9, 2026, at the Lotos Event Centre in Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stoney Creek Sabres U13BB or the Canadian Cancer Society.
