James "Jim" DIXON
James (Jim) Dixon passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in 1934, Jim lived a life shaped by hard work, independence, and a generous spirit. He dedicated 35 years to the Dofasco Steel Company, working as a crane operator from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Known for his strong work ethic and steady presence, he took pride in doing a job well and continually challenged himself to be more efficient. Outside of work, Jim found joy in keeping his hands busy. He had a talent for refurbishing old bicycles and took great satisfaction in restoring worn or forgotten items to their former glory. He loved Ford trucks, supermodified car races, his John Deere lawnmower, and a cold Diet Coke. A devoted dog lover, Jim shared his home and heart with many loyal canine companions over the years, most recently his beloved Ginger. Those who knew Jim will remember his easygoing nature and his determination to live life on his own terms. Never one to be ruled by the clock, he was famous for arriving fashionably late to family gatherings and celebrations, a quirk that became one of his most endearing traits. Above all, Jim was a devoted family man. He leaves behind his beloved wife, his partner in life for nearly 63 years, Marion, his son, Paul, his daughter, Denise, and her husband Paul Spoelstra. He was predeceased by his father, Leonard Dixon, his mother, Ruth (Punnett) Dixon, his stepmother, Muriel (Ofield) Dixon, and his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Penney. Jim is survived by his sister, Ann Williams. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ralph Profetto, Dr. Jason Profetto, and the entire care team for their exceptional support, compassion, and dedication. Cremation has taken place. At Jim's request, there will be no funeral service or future Celebration of Life.
