Shirley Holmes

Shirley Gertrude Holmes (Gray) passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at Ina Grafton Homes, at the age of 88. Born on October 1, 1937, in New Brunswick, she spent the majority of her life in the Niagara Region. She devoted thirty years to Consumer Gas, now Enbridge, and volunteered for more than twenty years at Ina Grafton. Her interests included knitting, craft groups, boating, travel, and shopping, and she was known for her kindness, humour, intelligence, creativity, and caring nature. She was predeceased by her husband Eric Holmes, her daughter Cathryn Poolton, her granddaughter Elizabeth Ryckman, and her sister Alison Goffin (Grey). Survivors include stepdaughter Diane Holmes (Bruce Metcalf), stepson Derrick Holmes (Laurie Holmes), grandchildren Jeff Campbell, Courtney Campbell, Heather O'Malley (Holmes) and Lauren Lunn (Holmes), nephews Frederick Goffin and Jeffrey Goffin, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. A small gathering to remember her will be held at Ina Grafton Gage Village, 413 Linwell Road, St. Catharines, on September 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
