Dorothy Bernice BUTLER (Bernie)
Dorothy Bernice Butler, known to many as 'Bernie,' passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on February 11, 1934, in South Dumfries, Brant County, Ontario, Bernie was the beloved daughter of John Scott 'Jack' and Mary Louise 'Lou' (Barker) Cunningham. She was predeceased by her husband, Denton Jerome Butler, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage; a son, Reggie, in infancy; her sister, Mae Louise (Harold) Maus; and her sister-in-law, Dallas (Steve) Muise. Bernie was a devoted mother to Donna Mae (nee Butler) O'Toole and John Denton (Kimberley) Butler. She was the proud grandmother of Dan (Danielle) O'Toole, John (Melissa) O'Toole, Rory O'Toole, Robert O'Toole; and granddaughters, China Butler and Lindsay (Jake) Caffelle. Her legacy continues in her great-grandchildren, Cailey, Sean, Emma, and Erynn O'Toole; and is further honored by many nieces and nephews who held her dear. Bernie graduated from high school in Paris, Ontario, and continued her education at Brantford Collegiate Institute. She served as the past secretary of the Catholic Women's League, was a cherished member of St. Ann's Choir, and found joy in the camaraderie of the 'Ancaster Annette's.' She is survived by her son, John, and his wife, Kimberley, who cared for her at home in Sora, Panama.
